Carbon Trust Programme

Carbon Trust Programme

If your company or business idea is in clean tech and you are based in England, Scotland or Wales, then you may qualify for support. E-Synergy is working alongside the Carbon Trust to make the UK a world leading hub of low carbon innovation.

The Carbon Trust believes the UK is distinctly well placed to become a global leader in low carbon innovation. The UK has world class academic talent to draw upon, great industrial expertise and great natural resources (e.g. wind and marine technology). The Carbon Trust’s vision for the UK is a hub, drawing in the very best talent, creating new early stage technologies, exporting them to the world and helping us benefit from green growth.

We recognise that to get the very best ideas to the market, more integrated support needs to be given to low carbon technology entrepreneurs. In response, the Carbon Trust launched The Carbon Trust Entrepreneurs Fast Track, a service designed to stimulate investment, provide a customised package of expert advice and networking opportunities and potentially provide research and development grants for early-stage UK clean tech companies.

If your company is based in Scotland or Wales, then support is available for any low carbon technology. In addition, grant funding is available for companies based in Wales.

If your company is based in England, then we are only able to offer support if the technology that you are developing is on the priority technology list detailed below:

  • Biogas
  • Biomass (heat and CHP, power, power with CCS)
  • Buildings (heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting systems, materials and design)
  • CCS (coal fired, gas fired, industry CCS, CO2 transport and storage)
  • Electricity grid (efficient transmission, grid connection and balance of system, smart distribution grid)
  • Energy storage (electrical, thermal)
  • Fuel cells (large power and small power)
  • Heat distribution
  • Heat pumps (air source and ground source)
  • Hydrogen (energy storage, fuel cell vehicles, production)
  • Marine renewables (wave, tidal range - barrage and lagoons, tidal stream)
  • Offshore wind
  • Solar hot water heating
