 Dr. Andrew Stevenson

Andrew holds degrees in Physics and a PhD in Materials Science from London University, is a chartered engineer and chartered physicist and holds Fellowships of the Institutes of Materials and Marine Engineers. His early career included materials research and consultancy in the rubber industry, the offshore and the automotive engineering industries. He founded the Materials Engineering Research Laboratory (MERL) in 1986 with venture capital partners, developing the company into a world-class laboratory in its field. He was chairman and majority shareholder until 1999 when he sold the company to an MBO returning 19x.

Andrew is a founding director of E-Synergy Ltd, Director of Hydrogen Solar Ltd, NCIMB and PTL Ltd. He is an authorised person under FSA since 2001 and Fund Manager of the Early Growth Fund since 2003

BSc, PhD, MBA, FRSA, IMC. After a career as an electronics engineer and research manager, led the MBO of Thorn EMI Central Research Laboratories, successfully floating the buy-out vehicle, Scipher, on the main London Stock Exchange in Feb. 2000 at a capitalisation of €450m making a 100x return on initial investment.

He developed spinout companies from Scipher technology and has special expertise in exploiting commercial value in intellectual property. Business angel investor. Founding director of E-Synergy Ltd., Chairman of OLED-T Ltd and NCIMB Ltd., director of Seabait Ltd. Authorised person under FSA since 2004. Fund Co-ordinator of Emerald Fund.


 Richard Brook OBE, FREng

Richard holds degrees in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science from Bristol and London Universities. He is a chartered engineer, chartered mathematician and a fellow of the Institutes of Measurement and Electrical Engineering. He was Chief Executive of Sira Ltd and is President of AIRTO. His career spans over 30 years in research and development in sensors, measurement, instrumentation and related technologies such as optics, imaging and displays for industrial manufacturing, space and defence applications. His extensive involvement with leading technology organisations in the USA and Europe includes the EC and the European Space Agency.

Richard is a founding director of E-Synergy Ltd, Chairman of the E-Synergy Early Growth Fund Ltd. and Chairman of Q Chip Ltd and KeCrypt Ltd. He has special expertise in product development strategy.


 Ronald Armstrong

Ron read mechanical engineering at London and Cambridge Universities followed by an early career in the petrochemical and aerospace industries. From 1985 to 1999 he was Chief Executive of PERA International, a technology and management consulting group with offices in eight countries.

Currently, he is a director of Electra Private Equity PLC and Chairman of Infection Control Enterprise Ltd. He is a fellow of the Institutions of Mechanical Engineers and Electrical Engineers.
